The Ogun State Commissioner for Special Duties, Hon. Efuwape Olufunmilayo popularly known as Faeco has congratulated Governor Dapo Abiodun on Friday’s judgment of the Supreme Court which affirmed him as the winner of the 2023 governorship election in Ogun.

The Supreme Court earlier on Friday affirmed the election of Dapo Abiodun, which was earlier upheld by the tribunal and Appeal Court in the state.

The People’s Democratic Party, PDP candidate in the election, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, had in his appeal challenged the victory of Abiodun at the polls.

The apex court had reaffirmed Dapo Abiodun as the duly elected governor of Ogun State.

The court, therefore, dismissed the appeal by the PDP candidate for lacking in merit.

The dismissal of the appeal of Adebutu and that of the PDP means that Dapo Abiodun is the duly elected governor of Ogun State.

Efuwape Olufunmilayo, in a congratulatory message issued to newsmen, said the judgment by the apex court was a further affirmation that the All Progressives Congress had the support of Ogun State residents as reflected in the governorship and House of Assembly elections in 2023.

“With the election battle now put to rest by the Supreme Court, I join millions of our supporters to congratulate our amiable Governor, Dapo Abiodun and Deputy Governor, Engr. Mrs Noimot Salako Oyedele.

“It is a victory well-deserved as the Supreme Court has now proven the Election Petition Tribunal and the Appeal Court right concerning their earlier rulings in favour of Governor Dapo Abiodun.”
