“The instructions to release 3 billion Naira is clearly written in the said document. What does this mean? The buck stops at the table of Tinubu, he should be accountable for this. Betta Edu, who serves at the behest of the president, may just have been acting on instructions. Betta Edu may be neat after all.

Nigerians have taken to the social media to call for the immediate reinstatement of Dr. Betta Edu as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation. According to Sodiq Tade, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who voiced his criticism over the suspension of Dr Betta Edu as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, argues that the suspension is both unfair and pointless, emphasizing that the funds in question had received approval from the presidency.

Expressing his stance on his verified X account, Tade highlighted that assigning blame to Dr Betta Edu would be unjust, considering the active involvement of the presidency in approving the said funds. He further pointed out that the approval had come through Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President. Tade’s post, as sighted by News Week Nigeria, maintained that the Minister should be reinstated.

Continuing, Sodiq said that the suspension is pointless now that we know that she got approval from Gbajabiamila and, in extension, the presidency. It will be unfair to her to take the fall for something that the presidency is actively involved.

He wrote: “I sincerely think Betta Edu should be returned as Minister. The suspension is pointless now that we know that she got approval from Gbajabiamila and, in extension, presidency. It will be unfair to her to take fall for something that the presidency is actively involved.”

Another concern Nigerian, Emma Umeh, said that the suspended minister may just have been acted on instructions given by the presidency. He wrote: “In the light of the recent revelations, as published by @SaharaReporters, it is clear that Betta Edu’s actions may have been predicated on the instructions and approvals of President Tinubu.

Citing the document, signed by the president’s chief of staff, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, the contents therein are so unambiguous.”

He continued: “The instructions to release 3 billion Naira is clearly written in the said document. What does this mean? The buck stops at the table of Tinubu, he should be accountable for this.

Betta Edu, who serves at the behest of the president, may just have been acting on instructions. Betta Edu may be neat after all.”

“More so, I think it is high time Hon. Gbajabiamila spoke on this issues because the document in circulation has his name all over it and his supposed signature”

Another X user, Chinecherem, wrote: “I’ve always known that Edu Betta might just be acting on instructions of people in higher places.”

Sarki wrote: “Initially, I supported the call for Betta Edu’s suspension. However, with the emergence of new evidence and the circulating document revealing the president’s approval of the 3 billion for national social registration verification, there is no grounds for her suspension or prosecution. In fact, the president should extend an apology and reinstate her in her position.”

Kawu Garba wrote: “With the evidence showing Betta Edu got the approval of the N3 billion for national register verification, her suspension is unjust and should be reversed. She didn’t do anything wrong by doing what she got approval from the presidency for.”
