Lafarge, Ridsco Commissions Culvert, Empowered 50 Youths With Skills Acquisition Tools, Over 100 Benefited N7.5M Bursary Cheques

Thursday, October 20, was a historic day for commuters of Kara Eleyowo in Ariye community area as Ridsco partnership with Lafarge Africa Cement Plc company brings joy to the face of the residents of the community, while almost 50 youths was empowered with skills acquisition tools, and over 100 benefited from the year 2022 Bursary award Cheques.

The project became necessarily important to embarked on; when the residents called for the rescuing attentions of Ridsco, as part of community development projects to rehabilitate the road with a concrete Culvert, Lafarge Africa Cement Plc company came in and interfered to rescue the community.

On operations, just in the last two quarters of 2022, the company had financed and executed the constructions of numerous projects, many important link-roads, schools, boreholes and health centers among other amenities was commissioned.

These completed project was officially commissioned yesterday, Thursday 20th of October 2022.

While appreciating the initiators, in his address, the Kabiesi Alariye of Ariye Community said; “this project will immensely contribute to improvement of the standards of living of community members, as well as help the general public.”

“To be candid with all fairness, Ridsco has fast became the government of the people, that the body always hear the yearning of the residents of sagamu even when government suppose to be called upon for their responsibilities.” -Vice Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Comrade Isiaka Salami said.

Further noting, Vice Chairman, Isiaka Salami said; “it is very important  to mention this that the completed link-bridge will positively have impact on the people of Eleyowo community and other residents outside the community”, while he also commended Akarigbo, the RIDSco and Lafarge Plc, for their utmost contributions to community building. “I’m not going to thank Olootu on his outstanding performances for his administration proper leadership in RIDSco to achieve major aims and objectives, I would rather thank the Sagamu in him because he has proven that, he is proudly made in Sagamu”, Isiaka said while commending the successful efforts of Olootu Omooba Michael Oyedele, towards his stewardship performances as Chairman of the RIDSco.

The commissioning event was attended by dignitaries like Lafarge  cement plc representatives,  Engineer Edward Alabi and engineer Sunday Ajayi, the community leaders, The Sagamu Youths Association,  Comrade Olusegun Sikiru (success), National Youth Council Of Nigeria chairman, Comrade Aduroja Oluwole, SDA President, Awoyemi Adeyiga(yamunyamu), SDA secretary, Adekunle Bello, with political office holder, the Sagamu Local Government Vice-Chairman, Comrade Isiaka Salami (CIA), Royal fathers not limited to Kabiesi Alariye of Ariye, Olootu Omooba Michael Oyedele, the Olootu Omooba Eleyowo, Soyemi Adeyemi Thompson, among residents like chief imam of Eleyowo and many other invited guests from and afar the community.

REPORTS FROM THE BURSARY EVENT:

Kabiyesi, Oba Gisanrin who represent the Akarigbo at the event, appreciates the presence of everyone at the event ceremony, while he louded the RIDSco for their selfless services to the community, noting that the Chairmanship of Omooba Oyedele has impacted the lives sagamu residents.

Oba Gisanrin while praising the committees of the program, he mentioned that there was proper monitoring in ensuring that genuine indigents are beneficiaries of the scheme. Kabiesi blessed all the beneficiaries with prayers.

A Lafarge representative, Engr. Edward Alabi appreciated RIDSco for selflessly impacting with many efforts to bring development to Sagamu. Noting that the gesture was part of Lafarge Plc unrelenting contributions in partnering with the community. Stressing further, he charged the graduants to be self employed, that there’s no dependable job out there again. He concluded in saying this opportunity can only provide two basic requirements for wealth creation, which is knowledge and funds.
Urging the skills acquisition graduants to make use of the advantage of the tools for better purpose of their lives, he also told the students to use the money on their academic needs. Oba Gisanrin said the programme is promising a long-term economic impact for the beneficiaries and the community at a whole.

In remarks, Olootu Omooba Oyedele, the RIDSco Chairman recognized the presence of Oba Gisanrin, the Sagamu Loval Government Vice Chairman, Comrade Isiaka Salami and Engr. Alabi among others.


“Without a doubt, this programme will add value to the community, Ridsco will continue to sustains the programme to further reduce unemployments in the community and the vices that could result from it”,Omooba Oyedele said while commending the importance of the program to the congregations.

While congratulating all the beneficiaries at the event, Oyedele lauds Akarigbo for his fatherly and majestic role, as well as the Lafarge Plc, in adding values to the face of humanity and the community at large, as he urge all the beneficiaries to use the resources given them to be of good value to theirselves, their family and the community in general.

Speaking to the press at the event, Miss Okulaja Kehinde Feyikemi, the president of National Association Of Ogun State students (NAOSS) studying in Lagos State University Of Science & Technology (LASUSTECH), remarked that; “There’s always life to live after school and that can be achieved if one is self employed. The bursary will certainly go along way and i’m happy that today i was a beneficiary and i will also be in position to one day give back to the community, especially the indigents.

Mr Kushimo Oluwatoyin said he heard about the bursary awards program on internet and he qualified from the screening stage to be a beneficiary. Ridsco really put smiles on over 200 youths today and I must join the league of other beneficiaries to say thank you.
