Sagamu Youth Association (SYA) Brief Stewardship Reports In The Past 258 Days [FLASHBACK PHOTOS] 

A BRIEF REPORT OF STEWARDSHIP OF SAGAMU YOUTH ASSOCIATION (SYA) IN THE PAST 258 DAYS TILL TODAY 19TH NOVEMBER 2021

Greatest Sagamite! Eewa!!

It is with immense gratitude to the Supreme Being that I address you today on behalf of Sagamu Youth Association executives, being the two hundred and fifty eighth day (258th) day in office in the capacity of central executive member of our beloved Sagamu communities.

For me, each and every elected executives, it has been a very interesting time working with all parasympathetically to provide the necessary youth leadership dispositions and also make life better for Sagamites with their resources, we direly desired. Since 6th day of the month March, 2021 when we assumed office, we signed the oath of office which we concurrently aware it would still be binding on us even after our tenure as executives of this noble constellation of selfless individuals, to be accountable and giving stewardship report upon request by people we are representing and represented as the case might be.

Whatever the experiences we had in the course of providing leadership these eight (8) months, certainly, with a great sense of fulfillment based on our modest accomplishments we are laying a good foundation as lined out in “SYA 15-YEAR STRATEGIC PLANS” for the growth of youths in communal active engagement after three (3) years truncation, which we believe the succeeding administration will leverage on. It is however, pertinent to highlight some of the modest achievements the Comr. Sikiru Abdulwasiu Oluwasegun led administration has recorded in space of eight (8) months by a newly revived association with nil facelift:

PROPER OVERSIGHT FUNCTIONS AND QUALITY REPRESENTATION

The topmost priority by our administration was to be vision of the blind, voice of the voiceless. On assumption of office, we realized the semantics of check and balance as a sine qua non to development and took measures to that effect.

Intervention at Independent Martekers Branch (NNPC Mosimi): this administration was unbent to give all Sagamites level playing ground time-time in all spheres of managerial, leadership and opportunities abound in indigenous representation within our localities, this propelled Independent Martekers Branch (NNPC Mosimi) in having Comr. Seun Ara, a Sagamite as Chairman of IBM Mosimi.

Intervention at Petroleum Tankers Driver (NNPC Mosimi): through our tuggedness we are currently on Petroleum Tankers Driver (NNPC Mosimi) working closely with Baba Akarigbo in ensuring Sagamu is ably represented in PTD Mosimi. In spite of our commitment and consciousness towards proper service delivery, we were challenged however, we continually intervene and the sustained effort to tackle all menace. For instance, the reinstatement of Sagamu indigenes in PTD;

Periodic Report: it was in the bid to further improve the sagacity, thinking horosphere and in-to-to of Sagamu Youth administration legislature, good leadership and governance.in no omission, this administration strongly acknowledge the truest means of representation is embedded in carrying along the congress along in the dealings, and in this regard, this administration has not been lagging in listening to the prayers of Sagamu youths via Central Working Committee (CWC) biweekly, and our mail sagamuyouthass@gmail.com.

EVENTS/PROGRAM/SUMMIT

The words of the elders twisted not in twitter hence, we took knowledge acquisition to the venue of those who ought to have it on their scale of preference. This area also address various programs aimed at improving skills and promoting talents:

Teens Summit: a brainchild of the Sagamu Youth Association and this initiative is aimed at identifying, mobilizing, and engaging teenagers (Secondary School Students) in discussing germane issues about career, impact, the future, skills, talents and passions; and more, the SYA Teens Summit aims to answer and address. The Teens Summit is a key moment for the Sagamu community to come together and support quality upbringing for teenagers.

The maiden edition of Teens Summit tagged Teenagers Health and Sex Education Summit 2021 is a gathering of selected Sagamu teenagers morally equipped to change their community for good.

This Summit berth Sagamu Drug Free Club in secondary schools in Sagamu.

Sagamu Sport Festival: a sporting event organized by Sagamu Youth Association in 2021, proposed to be an annual sporting event, seeks to create ways to bring back the due relevance of youths and sport, in relation to nation building, growth and development. It is sincerest quest of Sagamu Youth Association via the Sagamu Sport Festival 2021 (maiden edition) tagged Sagamu Fit 2021, identify and promote talents, an opportunity to showcase their skills, a feat they cannot forget anytime soon, and achievement which will act as catalyst to their sporting career.

EXTENTION TO HUMANITARIAN SERVICES

Our commitment to humanity out and within pace set other communal wellbeing, is to be an agent of easing life. In this wise, we started environmental sanitation, we had touched Sabo, Ita-Oba, Isale-Oko, Ogijo but to mention a few.

We are trying to make sure lives were affected positively and thus, also bring about advancement of humanitarianism through partnership with NGOs and private organizations who are committed to the development of our people and wellbeing, we have had the privilege to partner with:

1. Toks Soluade Writers Bureau, advocating for literacy imrovement

2. JCI Remo in advocacy for WORLD CLEANUP DAY

3. Rotary Club Of Sagamu Metropolita

4. Sagamu Sport Samaritan

SAFETY AND SECURITY

We were challenged by the incessant cases wherein we swung into action on many occasions to savage issues bothering on safety of lives and properties in Sagamu too numerous to start stating instances. However, the timely intervention and the sustained effort to tackle the crisis from different dimensions, the story would have been a lot sadder than what it was.

Our commitment and consciousness on security issues enhance our cordial relations with security outfits across Sagamu Local Government.

EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION AND ACCOUNTABILITY

Sagamu Youth Association administration led by Comr. Sikiru Abdulwasiu Oluwasegun quiet understood effective financial communication and accountability is core value in rancor-free tenure, and this caused this administration to open an account with the below bank;

The larger chunk of the revenue generated into aforementioned bank account through sponsorship for Sport Festival 2021 amounting to ₦457,000.

The major sponsors were;

1. Sagamu Development Forum UK (₦150,000)

2. Team OMG (₦147,000)

3. Mr. Adepeju (₦100,000)

4. Two individuals who pleaded for anonymity whom sponsored with of ₦20,000 and ₦40,000 respectively.

The Teens Summit major sponsor, Oaks of Righteousness, sponsored with resource worth ₦200,000. Our sponsor for the event only created an avenue to implement our proposed budget wherein they took the personally see to the implementation.

We also found a means to bridge communication gap via creation of social pages WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook (Sagamu Youth Association) and Twitter (Sagamu Youth Association) where happenings of the association can be followed.

EMPLOYMENT / HUMAN RESOURCES

In the rigorous pursuit of core to berth lions and lionesses not antelopes who look to the west or east for meal policy, we created direct/indirect and temporary/permanent employment opportunities amounting to approximately thirty (30), as well as meek engagement creates a conducive environment for investment listed below but not limited;

As in every human choice, many people were positively affected by the decisions we took. By the same token, some of the decisions did not go down well with some persons. Moreover, we could have done more, but constrain from Royal Initiative for Development of Sagamu Communities (RIDSCo) stating no youth organisations should visit any company without their permission has actually had bad tow on our movement in having more population of employed Youths in Sagamu Local Government.

We are sincerely unapologetic to all those who might have been at the receiving end of some of our decisions, policies and actions to liberate the youths of Sagamu. On our part, we must move forward in our quest to develop our dear communities, and our next move would be communicated as at when due in this regards.

Sagamu Youth Association cannot conclude this address without placing on record the immeasurable support we received from certain people either in their individual capacities or as a group.

I beseech us all to support the Sagamu where brotherhood knot is taking high through unity of purpose possibly moving to the next level of development, creating generation of dream makers.
