The Chairman of Remo Youths Association, Comrade Onagbesan Yaya has sue politicians from Remoland to emulate their counterparts in other part of the State..

The Chairman in a meeting held at the association monthly meeting, held at Agura Sagamu yesterday expressed his displeasure on how politicians from Remo are treating the youths of their Constituency.

“I felt so embarrassed and disgraced knowing that most of our political office holder are not representing the interests of their constituents.”

“However, I acknowledged the fact that some of them are trying their little best but they need to do more. One of the examples was the empowerment of Youths in Media done a couple of years ago”- Yaya

“Can you imagine that the majority of Remo politicians don’t see any reason to empower the Youths of the Constituency they claim to be representing. I am not referring to their party Youths constituency but that of a common youth in Remo as a whole.”- Onagbesan said.

“It is so disheartening how some Local Government Chairmen in Remo turned deaf ears to our calls. Remo Youths are not beggars, but for the interest of common Youths irrespective of Religion, political affiliation, class or social status.”

Take it or leave it, youths will always want to be with who they think can stand in for them in time of need. The results of it was what we all saw at the last election. Most especially, the legislative arms both at state and federal.

“As a legislator of over 19 years at state and federal level, former Senator representing Lagos West and now present Ogun West Senator, Olamilekan Solomon Adeola Yayi has made it of paramount importance that as many youths and women as possible are given requisite skills and empowered to establish them in gainful self-employment, this is the type of leader we want to be seeing in our people from Remo, Yaya said.

Below are a few reasons why youth empowerment is important according to Remo Youth Chairman:

1. Poverty Eradication: Youth empowerment can curb the rate of poverty to a large level. One of the keys to empowering the youth is with skill development. When a youth is equipped with essential skills, he or she can utilize them to feed, assist others, and even invest for future use, aiding the nation economically.

This will in-turn contribute to the increase in employability and add to the GDP of the nation.

2. Improved Standard of Education: Empowerment can help youth to understand the importance of education that leads to social improvement of the country.

The empowered youths can donate educational facilities to primary, secondary and even to tertiary institutions. Empowering the youths academically accelerates the spirit of patriotism in the education sector. The empowered youths know the importance of education.

This is why many individuals issue scholarships to the students because they understand the value of education due to the empowerment, which was given to them academically.

Education exposes people to know what they did not know before.

3. Good Governance: When the youths are empowered, they empower the masses, thereby paving path for a better future. To build a better tomorrow, we need to nurture the youths of today.

4. Crime reduction and National Security: Empowerment ensures that youth has the necessary skill to sustain a livelihood, preventing him to adopt the path of crime.

5. Employment Creation: This is another importance of youth empowerment. A youth empowered society will not seriously suffer from the problem of unemployment that many nations are battling with in the current time. A skillful youth is a job creator.

Lastly, the 21st century is not in the distant future- it is today. Youth empowerment is of good importance to both nations and the empowered. Outside the government creating Youth empowering programs, the youths should also as well see it as a duty to personally develop themselves, because at the end of the day, the best thing you can bring to any environment is YOU.

“I can tell you categorically that soon, we will start engaging the new elected politicians in Remo (State), Federal and Senatorial District. I wish many of them would turn a new leaf. Without mincing words, Remo Youth activities should be pet projects of our representative at the state and Federal Assembly”, Onagbesan advised.
