A road project at Ojumele-Ajegunle at Makun in Sagamu Local Government area of Ogun State, which was opened barely two months ago by the Ogun State Government under the leadership of Mr Dapo Abiodun, has caved in after a downpour in the community.

In a short documentary published via various social media platforms of the state government four weeks ago, residents were seen commending the governor for rehabilitating the road, known as Ojumele-Ajegunle Road in the community.

The residents claimed that the rehabilitation has improved the movement of cars and people within the community.

“As part of our commitment to ensuring quality infrastructure for our community, we are pleased to announce the successful completion of the Ojumele-Ajegunle Road rehabilitation project in Makun Sagamu,” the state government noted in the documentary.

It continued: “The rehabilitation was undertaken with the aim of delivering well-maintained roads that will benefit our residents.”

But barely a month after the government’s post, The Eaglesforesight observed that residents of Ojumele-Ajegunle road have started sharing photos showing that the newly opened road has been damaged, perhaps due to the use of substandard materials during its construction.

An X (formerly known as Twitter) user Hon. Prince Lahbash (@PrinceLahbash) said; “Ogun Government, you did this to us in Sagamu, as a newly constructed road of less than 2 months at Ojumele-Ajegunle road. Ìdàgbàsókè ìpínlè Ogun, ajumọṣe gbogbo wa ni ooo.”

“This is crazy. The road & the drainage has been in a crazy state for over 10 years. Drove past there just last Saturday and I was really happy seeing they finally fixed. Its the easiest route to access my mum’s shop. So sad it couldn’t even withstand just one heavy rainfall 💔”, TheBabaTee (@Tolu_francis) on X said.

An X user, Rehanat said, “He (the governor) obviously didn’t do anything. Let him do a good road and stop using hoodlums as an excuse. Use good material unna say no.

“How do people even see truth and still decide to ignore…. Hoodlums destroy road or they didn’t use good material.”

Another user of X, Wale Adeyemi (yemiCharlse10) said, “Do they use back carpet to construct roads now?”

“The road was poorly constructed oga,” another user, Zubairu Abdullahi said.

Nwamadu Ebonyi State (Ugwuboy) on X app said, “Look at abia state in shagamu 😂😂😂😂”

Meanwhile, Sagamu residents has shown their displeasure over the affected portion of the road, which makes the youths to question the quality of the road constructed for them in the town.
