IBEDC To Retrieve Prepaid Meters From Customers, See Reasons
Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has announced a plan to retrieve some prepaid meters from its customers.
This was disclosed in an official memo sent to the customers on Thursday August 17, 2023.
According to the statement, the retrieval is free.
The statement reads:
“Kindly be informed that as part of the ongoing meter upgrade exercise, we will be retrieving from our customers, prepaid meters with Meter No. 62417…, 62418…, and some Meter No. starting with 6321…This is to enable us upgrade the meters.
“Our field staff will physically visit the affected customers’ properties to retrieve the meters.”

According to the statement, all customers are to note the following:
The retrieval is FREE and meter will be returned to the customer after the upgrade.
Existing credit on the meter will not be affected.
Only properly functioning prepaid meters will be retrieved.
“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this exercise might cause.
“For questions or enquiries on whether your meter will be retrieved, contact 07001239999 or customercare @ibedc.com,” the statement concluded.
