GAPOSA: Students Protests Against Gateway ICT Poly, Alleged Of Extortion Of Fees Collection Without Matriculation
The students of Gateway Polytechnic ICT institution, Sapaade, Ogun State has expressed their displeasure on how they were being scammed of fees collection by the school without matriculation ceremony.
A group of concern students from the institutions had cried out at the Management of Gateway ICT Polytechnic Saapade over the issues of not matriculated and seeing their fellow friends in another schools sharing the pictures of their matriculation ceremony on social media.
It is very shameful for us to have paid the school Management the sum of three thousand naira (₦3,000) each for matric ceremony but even till after election of this semester, we are not even sure of holding any matriculation, the students laments.
In the press release signed by the group and forwarded to our correspondent, the students talk about how they move on to write exam without matriculation.
“This protest is to ask management to do the needful and stop the act of extortions at all levels in the institution.”
“We have been waiting for management to refund our payments. After all, we have paid with the hope of calling us or releasing a date for our matriculation, but unfortunately none of such was done even after we are done with this semester examination. That is why we are here to expose the corruption recently going on in Gateway ICT Polytechnic.” The students said.

“We met them and they promised to refund our money, but what we have heard from them is silence,” they said.
“Aside the payments of three thousand naira collected for the matriculation, lots of monies are being extorted from students. In one instance, we were asked to pay for ICT facilities that we have never enjoyed,” that’s uncalled for.
If we the students take any action to express our anger, we are sure they will want to send us out of school or punish us.
We are calling the concerns authority to help us to talk to the school management, so that the money we’re extorted of in the name of matriculation fees will be returned back. This act is an act of fraudulent, and we are in totality condemning it. The students says.
