Yoruba Nation Agitators Clash With Nigerian Army Personnel In Ogun, Cart Away Rifle

Some Nigerian Army soldiers have been mobbed by some individuals said to be Yoruba Nation agitators around Oju-Ore area in Ota, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The incident happened on Thursday when the agitators were on a procession around Ota.

It was gathered the agitators descended on a vehicle conveying the personnel of the Nigerian Army, disarming one of the soldiers.

They subsequently went away with the rifle after mobbing the said soldier.

It was learnt that the army immediately mobilised to Ota in order to arrest the situation.

Residents said the heavy military presence caused panic among the people as many scampered for safety.

Meanwhile, a military signal obtained by eaglesforesight revealed that the rifle had been recovered.

“The rifle was dropped at the Oba’s Palace at Sango-Ota after series of checks, cordon and search operations by troops and discussion with leaders of various groups in the areas as directed by the GOC 81 Division, Maj Gen OC Ajunwa.

“The rifle was eventually handed over by the Kabiyesi to the CO 192 Bn at about 040600A November 22,” the signal read.
