World Tobacco Day: Remo Gooners Kicked Against Drug Abuse



World Tobacco Day is observed on May 31st of every year to highlight the risk associated with the use of tobacco. The annual campaign is an opportunity to raise awareness to help reduce use and protect the health of the people.



The World Health Organization, WHO promotes World No Tobacco Day each year to highlight the health risks of using tobacco and to encourage governments to put policies into action that help to reduce smoking and the use of other tobacco products.

According to WHO, tobacco use kills more than 8 million people around the world each year. Smoking any kind of tobacco reduces lung capacity and increases the severity of respiratory diseases.

In celebration with the global world, the 2021 theme tagged “commit to quit“, Remo Gooners a body of all Arsenal FC fans across the 3 local government areas in Remo, Ogun state is organizing an under 13 league soccer tournament which is slated for tomorrow, to commensurate World Tobacco Day.

The purpose of this league is to help harness the potentials of this young kids while taking them off the street from engaging in any illegal or social vices that could affect their lives later in life; most importantly to ensure the continuous advocacy of the adverse effect of tobacco, and drugs abuse generally.
