Winners Of Miss And Mr Obaruwa Emerge At The Youth Nite/Beauty Pageant Event Of The 25th Obaruwa Festival
History was made yesterday as Makun Sagamu, area of Ogun State, becomes the first community town in Remo Land to crowned a male beauty winner in a beauty pageant contest. Dada Taiwo was crowned the 1st Mr. Obaruwa, at the 25th Obaruwa Festival Youth Nite & Beauty Pageant, after besting 2 other contestants at the beauty pageant on Thursday night.
The pageant which was held on Thursday 9th, February 2023, took place at Ewusi Palace, amid glamour and glitz, also have Oluwatobiloba Mayungbo as the newly crowned Miss Obaruwa, after defeating four other contestants at the beauty pageant.
The two newly crowned Mr. and Miss Obaruwa were a native of Makun Land, Sagamu, as well as all the contestants.
One of the most remarkable memory of the events that stole the show by proving her doubters wrong was that of a deaf participant of the pageant, Miss Olamide Lawal who emerged as the first runner up (second), while and Miss Adetoun Sonubi was the second runner up (third) in the Miss Obaruwa Beauty Pageant contest. It was no doubt a night of firsts, as Shittu Waheed emerge the first runner up, while Adeleye Olalekan Oluwasegun, claimed the second runner up, in the Mr. Obaruwa contest.

“Winning this competition means a lot to me,” Mayungbo said after being crowned Miss Obaruwa 2023. “I’d like to thank Kabiesi, the Ewusi of Makun Land, Oba Timothy Oyesola Akinsanya and the committees for this year Obaruwa Festival”, Taiwo Dada; first Mr. Obaruwa said. The Mr. and Miss Obaruwa was awarded the cheque prize of N500, 000 each, as their winning prize, while a cheque of ₦300,000 and ₦200,000 was awarded to the second and third winner of the Mr. and Miss Obaruwa contestants, respectively.
Speaking with Eaglesforesight correspondent, the Chairman of the Obaruwa Festival Planning Committee, stated that; it was very challenging for the event to be organised especially in a season like this. This has always been about empowerment, “Mr. and Miss Obaruwa” platform is beyond the beauty pageant,” the chairman said. “We are very committed to empowering women, girls and providing opportunities for men and women to grow”, the Ewusi of Makun Land, Oba Akinsanya concluded.
In attendance at the event were dignitaries like; Olori Akinsanya, Mrs. Lizzy Jekami, some bigwigs/2023 candidates of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP); Asiwaju Bolarinwa Oluwole – the Asiwaju Odo of Makun Land, Hon. Olapeju Ayodele, Hon. Damilare Bello, Lagos based Sagamu born hip-hop artiste Sydon J, Olucopper, and well noble personalities across the town, sons and daughters of Makun who troop out en-masse to celebrates the historical day.
