Will Embattled Speaker Oluomo Be Reinstated As Abiodun, APC Intervenes In Ogun Assembly Crisis?
There seemed to be efforts being made to return the impeached Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Kunle Oluomo if it meets democratic tenets.
The Eaglesforesight had earlier reports that 18 lawmakers had on Tuesday, January 23 removed Ogun State House of Assembly Speaker, Kunle Oluomo over alleged gross misconduct.
An impeachment letter of Hon. Olakunle Oluomo was earlier signed by 18 lawmakers on Tuesday, was then later joined by other 5 lawmakers on Wednesday morning to complete it 23 signatures.
Hon. Daisi Elemide, a member representing Odeda constituency was elected to replace Oluomo, who is representing Ifo 1 State Constituency
Mr Adegoke Adeyanju (APC-Yewa North 1), moved the motion for the speakers impeachment and it was seconded by Mr Ademola Adeniran (APC-Sagamu11)
The 18 lawmakers who endorsed the impeachment include; Hon. Adeyanju Adegoke Olusesi, Hon. Akingbade Jemili, Hon. Lawal Samsideen Adekunle, Hon. Ayodele Wasiu, Hon. Lamidi Olatunji, Hon. Awolaja Dickson Kolawole, Hon. Adeniran Ademola Adeyinka, Hon. Elemide Oladaisi, and Hon Bello Mohammed.
Others are: Hon. Adesanya Oluseun, Hon. Atobatele Lukmon, Hon. Waliu Ifedolapo, Hon. Amosun Yusuf, Hon. Babatunde Tella, Hon. Soneye Damilola, Hon Adeleye Lukman, Hon. Ajayi Bolanle Lateefat and Hon. Kashamu Rasheed.
However, indication to the effect that Oluomo’s office may restored is coming from some feelers emanating from the state government, Governor Dapo Abiodun and the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC in the state.
The Government is still treating the impeachment as an “alleged” action carried out by the 18 lawmakers, suggesting that in its reckoning, it is an allegation and not acceptance of fact yet until the matter is established beyond reasonable doubt.

According to Kayode Akinmade, Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, the Government intends to see all the contending issues resolved in a democratic, fair, and just manner.
Does this suggest reinstating Oluomo in office as Speaker?
Akinmade’s release reads “The Government of Ogun State has keenly taken note of the events on the floor of the Ogun State House of Assembly on Tuesday regarding the alleged impeachment of the Speaker of the Assembly, Honourable Olakunle Oluomo, by members of the legislative arm during a sitting presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Honourable Bolanle Ajayi.
Working with the leadership of our Party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Government intends to see all the contending issues resolved in a democratic, fair, and just manner.
There had been internal wrangling in the Assembly that had persisted and degenerated despite several interventions.
The Ogun State Government notes that the Honourable Members have openly stated that their grouse is not with the Governor, whom they again pledged their loyalty to.
It is the prerogative of members of the House of Assembly to chose their leadership in line with the constitution and the law guiding the conduct of the Assembly.
Given that the Ogun electorate gave us a mandate to represent their best interests and deliver democratic dividends that will significantly improve their well-being, the Ogun State Government, along with the Party leadership, have intervened to ensure that whatever disagreement members have is resolved peacefully and amicably, so that the delivery of democratic dividends to our people will not be hampered in any way.
The Ogun State Government considers all members of the House of Assembly as partners in the Building our Future agenda and will always prioritise issues that affect them.”
Oluomo threatened law suit to reinstate him back as speaker:
In what many political analysts has seen as confidence move to reclaim what was taken away from him. Meanwhile, some has said it is just an exercise that will bring more shame to him.
What will now be Oluomo faith, if after the court case he still lose, has been the concern of many people that are following the trends in Ogun State House of Assembly.
