VP Osinbajo, Gov Abiodun, OGD, Ijaya Witness Ogun Airport Maiden Flight

The Gateway Agro-Cargo Airport, located along Iperu-lishan road in Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State, on Thursday, witnessed its maiden commercial flight.

Present at the ceremony were Vice President Yemi Osinbajo,   Ogun  State Governor, Dapo Abiodun; his wife, Bamidele Abiodun; Deputy Governor, Noimot Salako-Oyedele; former governor and national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Olusegun Osoba; and Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika.

In his speech, Osinbajo described the Gateway Agro Cargo Airport as a world class project worthy of emulation.

Osinbajo also disclosed that the Kajola Dry Port in the state would soon become operational in a few months time.

Speaking at the event, the state governor stated, “Ogun State birthed its maiden test flight today at its soon-to-be-completed Gateway International Agro-Cargo Airport, conceived by Otunba Gbenga Daniel and fully implemented by our administration towards advanced industries in agriculture, aviation, infrastructure, and the economy.”

He added, “In line with strategies we outlined in the State’s Multi-Modal Transportation Master Plan, this airport that will be commissioned in the Remo Economic Zone in a few months, proves our Administration to be a promise- keeping one.

“We owe the gratitude of this enviable achievement to stakeholders including the Federal Ministry of Aviation under my brother, Hon. Min. Hadi Sirika, the contractor as well as private partners like Mr Kunle Soname whose airplane made this maiden flight.

“We also expressed our undeserved gratitude to our dear Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo for witnessing this epoch making event.”
