When the Ukrainian town of Shandryholove became the front line between Russian and Ukrainian forces last April, the local school was shelled and completely destroyed.
Since then, teacher Oleksandr Pogoryelov, 45, has turned his living room into a classroom for the children left behind in the city.
“A doctor has to treat people and a teacher has to teach children,” he said.
“And when the school was destroyed, I decided to teach students at home so that they interact with each other.”
