The management of the University of Ilorin, Kwara state, has said it has allocated 500 user accounts with 300 capacity zoom licenses to its various faculties and departments for the immediate start of virtual classes.

A statement released to the media by the university’s Director of Corporate Affairs Mr. Kunle Akogun on Monday said that the virtual classes would run concurrently with the physical classes.

The statement pointed out that “approximately 500 user accounts from 300 capacity zoom licenses have been assigned to faculties and departments for effective virtual delivery of lectures.”

It added: “We have also developed virtual class schedules for courses with class sizes of approximately 1,000, 3,000 and 5,000 students using the large-capacity zoom licenses.”

It pointed out that “physical delivery of lectures/practice sessions in classrooms/laboratories is very important and should be consciously maintained.”

It is recalled that in the wake of the transportation challenges faced by the students and staff of the university, the management has taken several measures to mitigate the impact of the unfortunate situation on the students in particular.

This included the assignment to the Timetable and Space Use Committee to adjust the lecture schedule and make it more flexible.

Management also extended the university’s zoom licenses to activate the virtual lectures option, the statement said.

Recall that the university said last week that it would start virtual lectures for the students in the institution to solve the transportation problem faced by the students and staff due to the bad road and construction works along the main road leading to the university of the city.
