Sagamu, Ogun State – The Aladie/Mayegun axis at the Sagamu Interchange along the Sagamu-Benin Expressway has become a death trap, with increasing accidents and a growing toll of lives lost. In a recent tragedy, a collision involving a truck, a motorcycle, and an 18-passenger bus claimed multiple lives and left several others critically injured.

Comrade Gbenga Lawal, President of the Sagamu Youth Association (SYA), visited the accident site, expressing deep concern over the worsening state of the road. He called on Governor Dapo Abiodun and other key Ogun State leaders, including Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel and Hon. Damilare Bello Dre, to urgently address the dangerous conditions.

The poor condition of the Aladie/Mayegun stretch has led to frequent traffic jams, inflated fuel costs, and a growing economic burden on the region. Even more alarming are the security risks, with reports of kidnappings and shootings near the Ilishan axis further intensifying fears for commuters’ safety.

2. Support for Victims – Aid must be provided to the families affected by recent accidents.

3. Preventive Measures – Long-term safety measures should be implemented to avoid future incidents, particularly as the busy “ember” season approaches.

As the festive season draws near, this high-traffic route demands urgent attention to avoid further loss of life.

“We are pleading with the government to act swiftly and decisively before more lives are lost,” said Comrade Lawal.

The Sagamu Youth Association urges all stakeholders and concerned citizens to join this call for action to secure the future safety of Sagamu, Remo, and Ogun State at large.
