Those behind fuel, naira scarcity want elections postponed – Tinubu

All Progressives Congress presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has said that those behind the naira and fuel shortage in the country want to create a scenario that could lead to the postponement of the general election.

Tinubu made the statement Friday at the presidential campaign rally at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State.

“They hoard naira so you can be angry and fight. They want confusion so that the elections can be postponed. What they want is an interim government, but we are wiser than them. We won’t fight. Any rat that eats rat poison commits suicide,” he said.

The former governor of Lagos state told huge crowds of supporters that his mission in the presidential election was to give them a fresh start.

“I am in the race for the betterment of the people. If it is what I will eat and what I personally need, God has provided for me. I’m in this race to make life good and better for you too.

“Ekiti people are educated people. They are well read; they don’t joke with education. But it’s not good to finish your education and not get a job. So we will provide jobs for you.

“That day we go to the voting booths to cast our vote. Your voting booths are not far from where you live. So you have to walk down to cast your vote,” Tinubu said.

In a statement signed by his media assistant, Tunde Rahman, he vowed to make a difference in the board if given the chance.

“I believe that every Nigerian has the right to live in dignity and happiness, free from the fear of hunger, poverty, violence and hopelessness. I believe we can do better as a nation. I believe we should do better. History calls, destiny calls, greatness calls!

“I have come here today to do my best and assure you that I will always work for you. Check out my plan and ideas for the nation. You will like them because they are developed out of concern and hope for your well-being and for your future.

“Parents, don’t you want your children to have a better life? Young people, don’t you want a nation where you can realize your dreams and also take care of your parents, but still raise and have children of your own?

“Join us, elect us so that the government ensures that you have decent jobs, that farmers earn a good income, that there are enough schools and clinics. We will expand industry, ensure your peace and security, ensure that our nation is well fed and does not go hungry and we will renew your hope in Nigeria and in your future.

In his plans for Ekiti State, Tinubu pledged to focus on the development of the agricultural sector, with a special focus on mechanized agriculture.

He also promised to make the state an export hub for its agricultural products, which would increase the state’s revenue.
