Responding on behalf of HRM Oba Adewale Ajayi Babatunde, the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remo Kingdom, his Majesty’s representative, the Odofin Of Soyindo, Oba MSL Gisanrin, lauded Lafarge’s gesture towards their quality academic excellence contributions in Sagamu.
“This is a gesture that will remain historic not only in the history of the beneficiary students and Sagamu communities, but the State as a whole because the intervention undertaken in the areas of education and youth empowerment had presented Lafarge as one of Ogun state partners in progress.”, the RIDSCo Chairman on Education and Youth Empowerment Committee said.
Olootu Omoba M.O. Oyedele mentioned covid-19 as the major reason why the bursary awards could not hold in the year 2020, and to ensure that people benefit from the 2021 edition, he gave the committee a mandate of a month ultimatum to organize the just concluded bursary awards.
He said, in the past, the idea is to distribute forms to respective quarters and communities in Sagamu Local Government, but, it was discovered that often time the purpose of getting to real indigent students are always defeated through the act of favoritism from the past youth representative. However, with the advent of website, RIDSCo began online registration of qualified students for the awards. The data submitted online would be further verified with their school authorities. Through this alone, many applicants are found out to be not in the penultimate class or from other local governments and state, and therefore disqualified. After weeding through verificationof claims, the students sat for a written and oral interview before the successful candidates are invited to receive their cheques. He commended the cooperation of the present representatives of the two recognized youth bodies- National Youth Council of Nigeria and Sagamu Youth Association- for their efforts in the 2021 bursary edition for their doggednesses.”
