The month of Rajab – Tribune Online
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Merciful.
In the blink of an eye, six lunar months pass. As if the first month, Muharram, were yesterday, the seventh lunar month has arrived. How time flies! The one you call the fasting month of the ancient people is here. The one we call the scared month of Rajab is here.
It is indeed a great month set by Allah as His own month. It is a blessed month for believing men to reflect. It is an isolated holy month to prepare us for greater challenges in the physical and spiritual world than other holy months Zul-Qu’ada, the 11th month; Zul-Hijja, the 12th month; and Muharram follow each other for the first month.
Rajab is considered the month of Allah, which is why Muslims pay a lot of attention to it. The Prophet said that Rajab is the month of Allah and the month of the Prophet is Shaban, while Ramadan is the month of the Ummah. For this reason, Muslims devote their time to prayers and helping the needy during Rajab, as well done during the month of Allah brings rewards and blessings.
The holy months are forbidden months in which all forms of fighting and hostilities are prohibited. The Holy Quran, Taubah, 9:36-37, says: “The number of months in the sight of God is twelve (in a year)—So determined by Him on the day He created the heavens and the earth; of them four are holy: that is the right use. So don’t beat yourself up about it and fight the pagans all together as they fight you all together. But know that God is with those who restrain themselves. Verily, the conversion (of a forbidden month) is an addition to disbelief: The disbelievers are thereby led to injustice: for they make it lawful one year and forbidden the next, to adjust the number of months forbidden by God and so forbidden lawfully. The evil of their course seems pleasant to them. But God does not guide those who reject faith.”
Rajab is a month of self-discipline when self-restraint is highly recommended as far as possible. It is a month of retreat into spiritual shell when true believers fast and pray fervently for the sake of Allah. It is a special month in which true believing men enter into a spatial connection with Allah (swt) and fast during Sha’ban and Ramadan. A hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) says, “Abu Thaar Al Gee’fari narrated that the Prophet says, ‘Whoever fasts the first day of Rajab will be equivalent to fasting for a month. And whoever fasts seven days in the month of Rajab, the seventh door of Hell will be closed against him’” (Sahih Bukhari and Muslim).
The month of Rajab has another name, which is Rajab Mudar, according to a hadith in which the Prophet said, “And (the fourth), Rajab (from the tribe of) Mudar, those between Jumada (Thani) and Sha` forbid.” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim). Mudar is an Arab tribe and Rajab is named after it as that tribe gave great respect to this month and protected its sanctity.
The Moon estuary of Rajab is amazing when the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was taken on a spiritual journey (Israa’) from Masjidi-e-Haram in Makkah to Masjid-Aqsa in Jerusalem (Fr. 17:1) and shown signs from Allah . With regard to this journey, Allah Almighty states in the Holy Quran, Israa’ 17:1 that “(Praise be to Him [Allah] Who took His servant [Prophet Muhammad] for an overnight trip from Al-Masjid Al-Haram [at Makkah] to the farthest mosque [Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem]the neighborhood of which We have blessed, that We might show it [Muhammad[ of Our signs. Verily, He [Allah] is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing)”.
The miracle of the Prophet Muhammad’s journey to the Jerusalem Mosque from the Haram Mosque in Makkah (Al-Israa) was to honor the Messenger (pbuh), strengthen his heart and grant him the kingdom of heavens and earth. to show. It was also intended to comfort the Prophet after the death of his uncle Abu Talib and his wife Khadijah in the Year of Sorrow, and after the suffering he experienced in At-Taif when the people attacked him.
It is a powerful month in which the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was ascended to heaven (Lalatul -Mira’j) and taken to the highest part of the horizon as a demonstration to us that the spiritual world is not an illusion. The Holy Quran, An-Najm 53:7-18, refers to Al-Miraj (the Ascension of Muhammad from the Prophet), “While he [Angel Gabriel] was in the highest part of the horizon, approaching and approaching and was at a distance of two arcs length or (even) nearer. So did [Allah] convey the Inspiration to His servant [Prophet Muhammad]. The heart of the (Prophet) did not lie (in seeing) what he (Muhammad) (SAW). Will you then argue with him about what he saw? [during Al-Mi`raj]. And indeed, he (Muhammad) saw him [Angel Gabriel] on a second descent (ie another time). Rajab is a unique month in which the king of angels (Jubril) appeared on earth in visible form and the prophet Muhammad (pbuh) ascended to heaven on the mystical horse Burak. It is a moment of truth when five canonical daily prayers were uttered to the Prophet as a practical demonstration of our belief in the oneness of Allah worthy of submission alone worship. It is indeed a spiritual month to awaken our spiritual well-being to greater spiritual awareness (Qur’an 11:114; 17:78-79; 20:130; 30:17-18).
The Holy Quran 17:78-81 says: “Include regular prayers – At sundown till the darkness of the night, and the morning prayer and reading: for the morning prayer and reading bear their witness. And in the little morning watches, pray: (it would be) an extra prayer (or spiritual benefit) for you: soon your Lord will raise you up to a station of praise and glory! Say: ‘O my Lord! Let my entry be through the Gate of Truth and Honor, and likewise my exit through the Gate of Truth and Honor; and grant me from Your Presence an authority to help (me).’ And say: ‘The truth has (now) arrived and the untruth has perished: for the untruth is (by nature) doomed to perish.’
As a people so beloved by Allah with the much-discussed vast human and material resources, the spiritual month has come as a period of cleansing from the filth in the land as we rebelled against God, where all forms of forbidden acts are perpetuated throughout the penetrate the country. world, with wars, increasing numbers of refugees, asylum seekers, returned refugees, internally displaced persons and stateless persons amounting to approximately 100 million worldwide in 137 countries, about half of whom are under the age of 18 without education, healthcare, employment and freedom of movement (UNHCR, 2023).
May Almighty Allah guide us to change our ways and seek His forgiveness in this month of Rajab. Ameen.
