Terrorists ambush Guards Brigade in Abuja, signal Law School hints as possible target
Barely 24 hours after terrorists named President Muhammad Bihari, Malam Nasir Rufai and other government officials as the next targets, the terrorists struck Abuja on Monday and ambushed the Guards Brigade, seriously injuring elite security officers. A signal about the attack is that the Law School in Bwari could be the target of an attack.
The primary mission of the Guards Brigade is to provide security to the country’s Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, especially the Presidential Villa.
Security sources said the troops were ambushed during routine patrols along Bwari-Kubwa Road.
According to the source: “Available reports show that the troops were on routine patrol of the
Bwari-Kubwa area when they were suddenly attacked.”
Our source, however, hinted that the ambush was forcefully repulsed by the Guards Brigade troops who immediately restored the area to health.
It was learned that the wounded soldiers were immediately evacuated to the Military Hospital for immediate medical attention.
The signal message about the attack reads: “Troops on routine patrols past Kubwa-Bwari were ambushed by suspected terrorists. Three soldiers were injured in the attack. The soldiers have been evacuated for medical care. Details of the extent of their injuries are yet to be confirmed. The ambush attack in the general area of Bwari shows that the terrorists are actually at the location and may be preparing to carry out their plans to attack the law school in Bwari, as previously reported.
When contacted, Guards spokesman Captain Godfrey Anebi Abakpa confirmed the attack but declined to comment further.
