Senator representing Ogun East, and former Governor of Ogun State Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has congratulated the South-West lawmakers for their relentless efforts in securing the passage of the South-West Development Commission (SWDC) Bill, describing it as “a hard fight worth its while.” He assured that the signing of the bill into law by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu marks a new era of development for the region.

In his congratulatory message, Senator Daniel commended President Tinubu and members of the National Assembly (NASS), especially his South-West colleagues in the Senate, for their unwavering commitment to the actualization of the bill. He expressed optimism that the South-West Development Commission would accelerate economic growth, improve infrastructure, and create more opportunities for the people of the region.

“This is a landmark achievement and a defining moment in our collective quest for regional development. The signing of the SWDC Bill into law signifies a new dawn of prosperity for the South-West, ensuring that the region receives the necessary support for industrialization and infrastructure development,” Daniel stated.

President Tinubu, on Monday, signed into law three key bills: the South-West Development Commission Bill, the South-South Development Commission Bill, and the Nigeria Anti-Doping Bill, 2025. The move, described as a milestone in the administration’s efforts to promote regional development and uphold integrity in sports, was announced in a statement by Senator Basheer Lado, Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters.
