Suspected Cultist Gunned Down In Ogun Rival Clash

A 44-year-old man, identified as Bashiru Saidu and suspected to be a member of the Supreme Eiye Confraternity, has been shot dead in what appears to be a cult-related clash in Atan-Ota, Ogun State.
The tragic incident occurred on Sunday evening along Bankole Onibukun Street. Eyewitnesses told our correspondent that four unidentified gunmen stormed the area on two motorcycles, targeted Saidu, and shot him in the head before fleeing the scene.
Confirming the development, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, SP Omolola Odutola, said officers from the Atan-Ota Division swiftly responded to a distress call around 10:00 p.m.
“The Ogun State Police Command has launched an investigation into a fatal cult-related incident that claimed the life of one Bashiru Saidu, aged 44, along Bankole Onibukun Street, Atan-Ota,” Odutola stated.

She disclosed that the victim’s body had been evacuated and deposited at the State Hospital Mortuary in Ilaro for further examination.
In response to the violence, the Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alamutu, has deployed the Command’s Anti-Cultism Unit to lead a comprehensive investigation aimed at bringing the perpetrators to justice.
Odutola urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movements or individuals to the nearest police station.
The incident adds to the growing concern over cult-related violence in Ogun State, especially in urban and semi-urban areas.
