A top source, who preferred anonymity because he was not authorised to speak on the matter, told Eaglesforesight that the governors met virtually and discussed sundry issues.

The source could not confirm till now whether the governors really discussed the raid by operatives of the Department of State Services on the Ibadan residence of Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo, fondly known as Sunday Igboho.

However, it was unverifiably gathered that the issue was discussed, among others.

“They are meeting but no one is sure if it is because of Igboho. There are several emergency reasons why governors can meet (on) especially in the face of the precarious situation ( in the country),” the source said.

It was gathered that governors who took part in the meeting were:

Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo)

Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos)

Gov. Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti)

Gov. Dapo Abiodun (Ogun)

Gov. Gboyega Oyetola (Osun)

Gov. Seyi Makinde (Oyo).

The meeting was hosted and presided by Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu, who is the current chairman of the governors’ forum in the South-West zone.

Nigerians on several occasions came to social media to have continued to condemn the audible silence of the six governors since Igboho’s residence was attacked by armed men of the DSS, leading to death of two persons and arrest of thirteen others.

His house and cars were riddled with bullets during the raid while bloodstains splattered over the floors of the house.

The secret police have since declared Igboho wanted. The activist is being accused of stockpiling weapons to destabilise the country under the guise of agitation for Yoruba nation but the activist had since denied the allegation, noting that he fights with metaphysical powers and not ammunition.
