Students Union Goverment, Ogun State Institute Of Technology Igbesa Staged  Frequents Protest, Highlights Six (6) Demands

The SUG and entire Departmental president wish to appreciate the students who came out to ensure that the struggle is a success, we pray that the spirit of Aluta never elude you all. SUG president says

In a press statement released from the union and observed by Eaglesforesight, stated that; “We know that many students have their various disappointments with the union and we honestly take responsibility for our shortcomings, even when there are more to everything behind the scene.”

Despite these shortcomings, you have said to us that what binds us is greater than what separates us by the undiluted support and solidarity of today’s struggle. Once again, thank you all.

However, we have watched and read with agony, the release by the management that students should go on an indefinite break from tomorrow 21st of September, 2021 while threatening that students who refuse to go will be dealt with.

This is not only laughable but very unnecessary. A wise man said, “Running away from your problems is a race you will never win, so just face them head-on, and overcome them.”

Declaring an indefinite break won’t solve our demands, so we are forced to ask, Why is the management running away from our demands instead of confronting them? What kind of man are they creating out of the students? – Cowards or Brave men and women who could challenge any adversity?

Out of all highlighted demands one has been achieved and five more to go but it is so unfortunate that the school management is trying to run from challenges by declaring an Indefinite break instead of tackling them heads on.

The Monday Demonstration Of The Students Is Premised On The Following

1. That we cannot write our final exam without first knowing our fate in the last examination. The result should be released to douse the tension in the students.

2. That the minimum NBTE requirements for a semester is twelve weeks for lecture, two weeks for revision and two weeks for exam (Total sixteen weeks) We have only spent twelve weeks so WHY THE RUSH.

3. That the school security architecture has collapse totally, we can no longer entrust our lives in the hands of the school security hence we demand for new security personnel ASAP.

4. That the school fee is exorbitant and should be reduced immediately. School Fees Is Choking Us. We want to know the breakdown of our school fees, we want to know what we are paying for.

5. That our school road is in bad shape and should be tarred immediately.

6. That based on the agreement, the students Union Government had with the management in the last agitation that there will not be any criteria for first semester and second semester CBT, all students that have not written CVBT should be allowed to write without any CRITERIA.

“On this note, we have decided to damn all consequences and wait for the management to carry out their threats by arresting students at our peaceful protest”, the students dare.

“We won’t back down until the management as lead by the Rector address our demands. We, therefore, call on all to move peacefully and massively tomorrow as we have done today.”

To our management, Jiddu Krishnamurti once said, “ What is needed, rather than running away or controlling or suppressing or any other resistance, is understanding fear; that means, watch it, learn about it, come directly into contact with it. We are to learn about fear, not how to escape from it.”
