…Denies pact with Rivers APC

…says G5 level of anti-party

The People’s Democratic Party presidential campaign council has said that Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike is working on the emergence of All Progressives Congress presidential candidate Bola Tinubu to win the February 25, 2023 election.

The director general of the PDP PCC in the state, Dr. Abiye Sekibo, stated this in a letter dated February 1, 2023, addressed to Governor Wike, a copy of which was sent to our correspondent on Thursday morning.

The letter is titled “RE: Revocation of Use of Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium for Our Presidential Campaign Rally.”

Dr. Sekibo, a former transport minister, reacted to the withdrawal of the PCC’s approval to use the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium for the presidential campaign scheduled for February 11, 2023.

He claimed that the governor has already instructed members of his cabinet, local government chairmen, his aides and party officials at various levels in the state to support Tinubu in the election.

The letter reads: “Our attention is drawn to your letter with reference number MOS/C/409/S49/T/17 dated January 31, 2023, addressed to His Excellency, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, the Director General of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council who submitted the said letter to us for our response.

“You stated that credible information available to the Rivers State government and recent developments now demonstrate that our presidential campaign organization is cooperating and cooperating with a faction of the APC in River State led by Tonye Patrick Cole and that it is the intent of our campaign organization to house and share the approved facility for our campaign with the said faction of the APC.

“We would like to say the following in response: We completely deny your claim as blatantly false and perverted and we believe that our highly respected security services cannot provide you with such untrue and baseless lies.

“That the PDP Presidential Campaign Council has absolutely nothing to do with the APC in Rivers State.

“That it is appalling and utterly ludicrous for you or anyone else to assume that the PDP and APC could hold an event together at the same venue.

“We believe that the sole reason for this cancellation is Your Excellency’s notification of our mass mobilization and total acceptance of Waziri Atiku Abubakar as the next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by the people of River States.

“However, we are quite aware from credible information reaching us that your Excellency has instructed all local government council chairmen, special advisers, commissioners, state, local government and department level party executives, and all other appointees of yours to for the APC presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tunibu, even though you haven’t had the courage to make the same known to the people of Rivers State.

“Your public statements, innuendo and behavior have indicated your determination to support the emergence of the PDP presidential candidate, His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar, GCON, Waziri Adamawa, as the next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“Finally, your involvement in the so-called G5 is the height of anti-party activity.

“It is therefore surprising that you are now accusing us of collaborating with the River State APC faction.”

Copies of the letter were sent to the Governor of Sokoto State and the Director General of the PDP PCC, Aminu Tambuwal, the National Chairman of the Party, Senator Iyocha Ayu, the Party’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar and his Vice President , Ifeanyi Okowa.

A copy of the letter was also sent to Rivers State Commissioner for Sports, Christopher Green.
