S’Court dismisses lawsuit against Oyetola’s participation
The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed a lawsuit brought by the People’s Democratic Party demanding the disqualification of Osun State Governor Gboyega Oyetola, immediately deceased, in the July 16, 2022 gubernatorial poll.
The PUNCH had previously reported that in a verdict dated September 30, 2022, the Federal Supreme Court had overturned the participation of Oyetola and his deputy, Benedict Alabi, in the election for governor on the grounds that their nomination forms had been approved by an acting chairman of APC, who was also a serving governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni.
Judge Nwite’s verdict was overturned by the Court of Appeal, Abuja in a December verdict, a decision the PDP appealed to the Supreme Court.
