Sagamu Youths, Police DPOs Unite To Tackle Insecurity, Drug Abuse, And Festive Season Challenges
The Sagamu Youth Association has in a groundbreaking effort to strengthen security and community relations, held a high-profile meeting with representatives of the Nigerian Police Force and other stakeholders.
The meeting, held on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, brought together top executives of the association, local police chiefs, and community leaders to address pressing issues facing the Sagamu community.
The event featured the President of the Sagamu Youth Association, Comrade Olugbenga Lawal, alongside key executives, including Ambassador Easy and other influential stakeholders. Police Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) from Igbobi, Sakora, Ewu-Oliwo, Ogijo, and Sotubo divisions were in attendance, reflecting a united front against local security challenges.
Discussions revolved around enhancing community policing, curbing drug abuse, and ensuring security during the festive season. The meeting emphasized collaboration between the police, youths, and the traditional palace to foster peace and safety in the region.

The police representatives assured the youths of their commitment to proactive measures, including increased patrols and collaborative strategies to combat insecurity and drug-related issues. They also pledged to strengthen their presence during the holiday period to prevent criminal activities and maintain order.
Comrade Lawal hailed the meeting as a significant milestone, emphasizing the importance of police-community partnerships in addressing societal issues. “This dialogue marks the beginning of a new chapter for Sagamu. Together, we can build a community where everyone feels safe and valued,” he said.
Both parties resolved to prioritize trust-building initiatives and promote a more people-friendly policing approach to ensure long-term peace and stability in the community.
