Sagamu Youth Association Pay Condolence Visit To Ode-Lemo, Rally Youth Unity, Decry Decay Of General Hospital Serving 12 Communities

The Sagamu Youth Association (SYA), under the leadership of Comrade Olugbenga Isiaka Lawal (Ambassador Easy), has paid a solemn condolence visit to the Ode-Lemo community following the tragic death of an 8-year-old boy allegedly caused by the lack of accessible and functional healthcare.
During the visit, which took place earlier this morning, the SYA leadership extended their sympathies to the bereaved family and used the opportunity to inspect the dilapidated General Hospital in Ode-Lemo—an under-resourced facility currently relied upon by over 12 neighbouring communities for basic health services.
Leading the delegation, SYA President Comrade Lawal expressed deep concern over the state of infrastructure in the town, particularly the absence of functional healthcare, inadequate security presence, and visible underdevelopment despite the town’s growing population and historical significance.
Addressing youth leaders and community stakeholders at the meeting, SYA’s Director of Special Duties, Comrade Adewale Hammed Bashiru (popularly known as Honourable Prince Lahbash), called for unity among the youths, emphasizing that communal division remains one of the biggest obstacles to progress.
“We must break the chain of disunity among the royal fathers, stakeholders, and youths. The path to sustainable development begins with us embracing peace, unity, and a shared vision,” Prince Lahbash urged.

During an open forum, the youths of Ode-Lemo tabled their grievances and development demands, citing key challenges as follows:
Lingering disunity between the traditional ruler and stakeholders hindering collective progress.
Absence of security infrastructure, such as local vigilante groups and police presence.
Non-functional and poorly equipped General Hospital
Lack of accessible and motorable roads
Need for organized market structures to boost local trade
Re-activation of abandoned local security posts to enhance safety and accommodate Amotekun, vigilante.
Responding to the concerns, Comrade Lawal assured the Ode-Lemo community of SYA’s full commitment to working with relevant authorities and local leaders to address their demands. He noted that unity is crucial to breaking the cycle of generational division and underdevelopment in the town.
“We will support efforts to reconcile all parties—traditional leaders, stakeholders, and youth groups—to achieve lasting peace and accelerate community development,” he pledged.
In his remarks, the Lemo of Ode-Lemo, His Royal Highness Oba Rufai Adeleke Olusegun Odumesi Adeyalu, commended the Sagamu Youth Association for what he described as a timely and compassionate intervention at a time the community is in dire need of attention.
“Your visit gives us renewed hope. Ode-Lemo deserves better, and we appreciate your readiness to be part of that change,” the monarch said.
The visit ended with a renewed call for collaboration among all stakeholders to revive Ode-Lemo’s ailing infrastructure and ensure that no child loses their life again due to avoidable systemic neglect.
