Sagamu Youth Association meets founder of Friends of Ronzi Foundation

The Sagamu Youth Association (SYA), the apex youth body in Sagamu, has taken a significant step towards community development by seeking collaboration with Friends of Ronzis Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded by Mrs. Oladapo Sulaiman. The visit aimed to strengthen ties and explore partnership opportunities to empower children and youth, foster education, and address societal challenges affecting the community.

During the familiarization visit, the SYA leadership commended the Friends of Ronzis Foundation for its remarkable contributions to youth development and social welfare. Over the years, the foundation has played a crucial role in providing educational support, empowering vulnerable children, and tackling social issues that hinder progress in Sagamu and its environs. Recognizing these efforts, SYA seeks to collaborate with the foundation to enhance its impact.

One of the key areas of focus for the partnership is education support, particularly in providing essential school materials such as bags, pens, pencils, books, sandals, and an initiative that will be beneficiary to underprivileged students. The initiative aims to ease the financial burden on struggling families and ensure that children have access to the basic tools needed for effective learning.

Beyond material support, the partnership will also introduce a training program that has to do particularly with female gender, an initiative designed to address menstrual hygiene challenges among young girls. The SYA emphasized that menstrual health is a vital issue that should not be overlooked, as many girls in low-income communities struggle to afford some products that has to do with female gender, leading to absenteeism in schools. By equipping young people with the skills to produce this initiative, the program will ensure sustainability and create opportunities for income generation.

Speaking on the initiative, SYA representatives highlighted the importance of continuous training, stating that the project will be a routine program where each batch of trained youths will pass the knowledge to the next set. This cycle will ensure that more young people are equipped with valuable skills while addressing a pressing community need.

The collaboration between the Sagamu Youth Association and Friends of Ronzis Foundation is expected to bring lasting benefits to the youth and educational sector in Sagamu. As both organizations work towards their shared vision of community empowerment, stakeholders and well-meaning individuals are encouraged to support the initiative, ensuring a brighter future for Sagamu’s younger generation.
