Sagamu Youth Association Inaugurates Site Committee, Charges Members With Driving Employments And Empowerments

The Sagamu Youth Association (SYA) under the leadership of Comrade Olugbenga Isiaka Lawal (Ambassador Easy) has in a bid to enhance youth empowerment and secure job opportunities for its members appointed and inaugurated a new Site Committee tasked with the responsibility of seeking employment, empowerment, and social benefits for youths in the region. The inauguration, which took place recently at the CWC meeting on Friday 28th of March 2025, was in line with Section 4 of the association’s constitution, which mandates the establishment of the committee to drive economic and social advancement among its members.
The newly inaugurated committee will be chaired by Olugbenga Lawal (Ambassador Easy), with Lateef Sodiya serving as Vice Chairman and Olayinka Odunayo as Secretary. The committee’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) role has been assigned to Comrade Bashiru Hammed Adewale (Lahbash), while other members include Shosanwo Muyideen, Awofodu Oluwaseun, Adekunle Saheed, Odubanjo Musa, Fatai Taofik, Olayinka Sojobi (Senator Obinna), Taiwo Kadri, Ademuyiwa Adegbenga, Segun Dada, Adenuga Babafemi, Quadri Olododo, and Abiodun Oluwanisola.
According to the association’s constitution, the Site Committee is a strategic body meant to be led by the President as Chairman, with the Deputy President as Vice Chairman, and the two Zonal Vice Presidents as automatic members. However, the recent appointments suggest a structural adjustment, reflecting the leadership’s commitment to inclusivity and efficiency in executing the committee’s responsibilities.

During the inauguration, SYA leaders emphasized the importance of the committee’s role in addressing the growing concerns of unemployment and underemployment among Sagamu’s youth. The committee has been tasked with engaging government agencies, private sector stakeholders, and non-governmental organizations to create meaningful opportunities for members of the association. Additionally, they will oversee empowerment initiatives, skill acquisition programs, and other social interventions aimed at improving the economic prospects of Sagamu’s young population.
Furthermore, the committee shall be empowered to take on other responsibilities as shall be assigned by the Central Working Committee (CWC), Stakeholders’ Forum, and Board of Trustees (BOT) of the association. With a growing number of Sagamu youths seeking better economic opportunities, the Site Committee is expected to play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between skilled youths and available job placements.
The leadership of SYA has urged the newly appointed committee members to demonstrate commitment, integrity, and proactiveness in executing their mandate. Youth leaders and community stakeholders have also expressed optimism that the committee will serve as a vital link between Sagamu youths and opportunities that will foster sustainable development in the region.
