SAGAMU ON THE BRINK: Akarigbo Warns Against Repeat Of Devastating Protests That Left Trail Of Destruction
Ogun-Sagamu: The Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remo Land, Oba Dr. Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, Torungbuwa II, has issued a stern warning to indigenes and residents of Sagamu against engaging in any form of protest or unruly act, citing the devastating aftermath of previous unrest in the area.
The warning comes as a precautionary measure to prevent a repeat of the chaos that ensued during the hunger protest, which resulted in the vandalization and destruction of critical infrastructure, including banks, the IBEDC office, and the local government secretariat.
In a general announcement from his office, the Akarigbo reminded the people of Sagamu of the months-long recovery process that followed the previous unrest, which left deep scars on the community.
He emphasized the importance of avoiding any actions that could lead to similar consequences, highlighting the economic and social impact of the destruction on the people of Sagamu. “We cannot afford to relive the horrors of the past,” the Akarigbo said.
