“It is also to prepare participating youths for a professional life-after-school by raising their skills in ICT for job and wealth creation, to make them employable internationally and to reduce youth restiveness and unemployment.”
Lafarge representative, Engr Edward Alabi further contended that it was owing to the importance of ICT as a driver of the economy in the present society that spurred the company to design the programme.
He, however, harped on the significance of acquiring skills, adding that the most economically advanced nations thrived on them. “It was owing to the significance of skills that the company has concluded to make the training a continuous program by batches”.
The trainees were earlier advised to take their classes seriously and do their assignments, of which they all did so well as we are seeing the results in them today.
“Any trainee, whose after the training is unable to be certified has wasted his or her precious time to learn. Mr Wole Soile pleaded for further assistance from RIDSCo and Lafarge for the graduants to be able to progress in their chosen career. The importance of certification and opportunity cannot be over-estimated. This is because as a certificated person you can work anywhere in the world. The primary aims of the programme are for you to be self reliant, certified and employable, “the training instructor, Mr Wole Soile added.

On the requests the graduants made when the Chairman visited them while on training, he said, ordinarily, the youth bus was supposed to be used to convey them to and from the Centre which justified the fund allocated to the Youth bodies as logistics for IT Training, and not running cost as being spread around. Since, this could not be done, he handed over a cash of ten thousand naira (₦10,000) each to all the graduants to cushoin the effects of their expenses on transportation during the one month course while he also personally gifted the best student, Olusoji Daniel Ayoola, a huge sum of cash.
