Tragedy struck on Monday morning along Ewusi Road in Sagamu, near Royal Chemist, where a fatal accident claimed the life of Mr. Olajide Oyeleke, sparking sorrow and outrage within the local community.

In a swift response, the Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Ogbeni Jubril Olasile Odulate, visited the accident scene accompanied by his Vice Chairman, councillors, and key local government officials. The team assessed the accident spot and engaged with residents and eyewitnesses, many of whom expressed frustration over recurring traffic incidents on the busy road.

Speaking at the scene, Chairman Odulate described the incident as a heartbreaking loss and emphasized the need for decisive action. “This is a painful and unacceptable occurrence. As a government, we owe it to our people to ensure that such tragedies are prevented going forward,” he stated, assuring residents that appropriate safety measures would be taken urgently.

Following the site inspection, the council team proceeded to the home of the late Mr. Oyeleke to console the grieving family. Odulate reassured them that the government would pursue justice and ensure that the individual responsible for the fatal incident would be held accountable.

“No life should be lost without consequences,” the chairman remarked. “We will follow this through until justice is served.”

Odulate concluded with a public appeal to motorists across Sagamu and beyond, urging them to embrace responsible driving habits. “Avoid drunk driving. Obey speed limits. If you’re not confident or fit to drive, don’t endanger lives,” he warned.
