The Rotary Club of Ikenne Ereke has empowered no fewer than 100 youths, women in different vocational skills in Ogun State.

The vocational training includes baking of cakes, Small chops making, Shawarma baking, Liquid soap making, and marketing strategy among others…

The vocational training touches the lives of no fewer than 100 people.

Speaking during the training that took place at the Ikenne Youth Council (IYC) Club House, Ikenne, the Club President of Rotary Club Ikenne Ereke Rotarian Alake Oronti, described the vocational training as a comprehensive, holistic offering of empowerment, resulting from strategic partnerships in line with Rotary’s commitment to promoting, empowering and creating awareness around no employments and then create means of livelihood for our people in the nation.

“The vocational training is about Rotarians taking the lead through a massive self employment campaign and living their motto of service above self,” he said. “With an estimated Nigeria’s unemployment rate that surged to 5.0 per cent in the third quarter of 2023 from 4.2 per cent in the previous quarter, it became critically important for us to garner support from not only government, but corporate partners and the media to address the problem and implement our prevention control programmes.”

According to Rotarian Odumosu Gbenga, no fewer than 100 people from Ikenne Ereke benefitted from the program.

Rotary Club Of Ikenne Ereke has reaffirmed her commitment to promoting wellness and building sustainable communities in conjunction with like minded organizations.

At Rotary Club Of Ikenne Ereke, the Vice President,Rtrn Odumosu Gbenga said; “we always seek ways to empower our communities, focusing on key areas such as water, health, education and entrepreneurship.”

“By investing in these critical areas, we aim to expand opportunities and improve the wellbeing and prosperity of our communities”, Odumosu Gbenga said.

Certificate we’re issued for all the participants where atleast 100 youths and women participated.

While commending Rotary on the initiative, one of the beneficiary that spoke with The Eaglesforesight, Mrs Sodunke who expressed her unreserved appreciation about the training said, “with this programme, Rotary is giving us rare access to tests and counselling that we don’t get every day,” she said. “They should be commended for reaching out to us with this laudable empowerments.”

An observer, Comrade Bashiru Hammed Adewale popularly known as Honourable Prince Lahbash said,“ I have to thank the sponsor and every primary strategic partner, for seeing this initiative as a worthy means to leave an enduring legacy in our people’s life. Over the years, we have also had to count on the immense support of Rotary International, the Ogun state government, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), i have to charge other Rotary Clubs in the district, such as Sagamu metropolitan, Sagamu centrel and other Rotary Clubs within Remo axis, Ogun East and Ogun State at large, to also emulate this initiative.”
