Rescue Our Indigenous Students From Unijos – Yoruba Council of Youths Urges Southwest Governors

Our attention has been drawn to the crisis going on in the University of Jos which has rendered students trapped helplessly.

In a statement released by the council through its Secretary Ogbeni Ajibode Abdulkabir, stated the displeasure of the entire leadership of the council under the Presidency of Aare Barr. Oladotun Hassan and also raised concern over the state of the Southwestern indigenous students who has no family to defend, rescue and ascertain their wellbeing in the middle of the crisis, for that we are so bittered and concerned about the uncertain safety of our fellow brothers and sisters, because an injury to one is an injury to all, he added.

Hence, we use this medium to call on the attention of our Governors under the umbrella Southwest Governors Forum under the Chairmanship of His Excellency Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu to as a matter of urgency look into this and come up with a strategic measure to evacuated our innocent Southwest Indigenous Students who are just schooling in the University of Jos to secure a better future for themselves and their families.

We hereby call on all relevant stakeholders, Monarchs, Political leaders, security personnels and elites of our crying country Nigeria to rally round to bring a lasting solution to the menace of crisis that keeps erupting at this trying times, while using this medium to request an emergency round table strategic dialogue stakeholders summit to jointly address all issues of mutual and National interest, as it is most expedient to bring these shameful and disgraceful act to a lasting end and bring all culprits disrupting the peace of this country to face the full wrath of the law.

We also appeal to all our dear indigenous students in Unijos to remain calm, stay safe and out of trouble to avoid any act that will lead to the breakdown of law and order respectively.

It is our prayer that may God in his infinite mercy and the spirit of our progenitors guide and protect all our fellow youths and students in the University of Jos.
