“While we are Grateful for this feat, we will never fold our arms and see a substandard project which in no time will take us back to where we are happy to be exiting now.”
“We wish to state categorically our views on the abnormalities surrounding the ongoing project.”
Though all the roads under construction are key to the socioeconomic development of the state, and thus, being applauded by the residents of the state, the ongoing rehabilitation of Oba-Erinwole road, which had begged for attention for almost two decades, drew huge applause from the residents of the area.
Apart from leaders of the Community Development Associations, the residents youths and commercial motorcycle riders, came out to call the attention of the State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun that the road is a kind of busy road that do accommodate heavy loaded trucks on a daily basis
One of the concern youth, Comrade Bashiru Hammed Adewale Olamilekan expressed his observation by saying we are surprised that the contractors are doing the asphalting already without stone base. This is totally bad. It will not allow the road to last long. After applying laterites, they ought to put stone base before asphalting in order to make it durable and long lasting.
We will appreciate if the State government ably led by Prince Dapo Abiodun would look into this and make necessary amends. It is totally pointless to do a project that will not serve the people for long.
A resident of Oba Erinwole road said if the road is given a deserved proper attention, it will open up the area to economic and business boom, in the short time of been constructed. While some wanted the state government to install street lights on the road, to add to its aesthetics at night.
It was on this note that the youths seized the moment to remind HE Dapo Abiodun to look into a lasting solution of the daily noted casuals at Sagamu Express Junction by installing a walkway flyover or motorable one to reduce the numbers of victims of death in that particular area.
