Prof Sharubutu appointed to Board of Directors of AATF

The Executive Secretary of the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN), Professor Garba Sharubutu, has joined the Board of Trustees of the African Agricultural Technology Foundation as a representative of the Federal Government of Nigeria.

This is stated in a statement by Alex Abutu, AATF Communication Officer for West and Central Africa.

The statement said Professor Sharubutu’s admission was based on Dr. Mohammad Mahmoud Abubakar, Minister of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

In a letter acknowledging the nomination and confirming his acceptance, Dr. Canisius Kanangire, Executive Director: “AATF is pleased to learn of the appointment of Professor Garba Hamidu Sharubutu to the AATF Board of Trustees and looks forward to a fruitful collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, AATF was established in 2003 to address Africa’s food security prospects through agricultural technology. AATF believes that the agricultural sector is an important fundamental pillar as Africa consolidates its economic growth and establishes its new position as a major global economic powerhouse and the next growth market in the world.

It was established in response to the need for an effective mechanism that would facilitate and support technology access and delivery negotiations and the formation of appropriate partnerships to promote the development and deployment of innovative technologies for use by sub-Saharan sub-Saharan African smallholders. to manage.

AATF operates in 23 countries in East, South and West Africa and is currently addressing challenges that complicate key commodities in Sub-Saharan Africa, including maize, rice, cassava, peas, bananas and potatoes.

Professor Garba Sharubutu was appointed Executive Secretary of the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN) in 2019.

He was a former provost of the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology.

He received his DVM degree from ABU Zaria in 1986, a Master of Veterinary Science (MVSc) degree from UI in 1992 and a PhD from Usman Dan Fodiyo University Sokoto in 2002.
