PDP writes to Buhari about allegations against Natasha

The Kogi State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has petitioned President Muhammadu Buhari after “inexpressible accusations” against one of its candidates in the state.

The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) had sent a petition to the president requesting that certain politicians in Kogi be investigated for allegedly attempting to disrupt the upcoming election.

In a petition signed by no less than 15 leaders of the group, the group accused a PDP senate candidate in Kogi, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, of sponsoring insecurity in the state

In a letter signed by its zonal chairman, Alhaji Illiyasu Zubaru, the Kogi PDP described those behind the alleged letter as “troublemakers who are clearly carrying out the bidding of a paymaster”, adding that “the said letter is outright untruth, fabricated deliberately to protect Natasha to defame.”.

The main opposition party also claimed that coalition spokesman Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, in an official statement issued and endorsed on February 1, debunked the letter.

“In light of the foregoing (terrorism allegations), we urge Your Excellency to disregard the letter in question and jettison its contents.

“We also pray Your Excellency to direct all security agencies to turn their searchlights on Kogi, especially Kogi Central Senatorial District ahead of the upcoming elections.

“We pledge to abide by the law during the campaigns and beyond,” the letter read in part.
