PDP scolds panel chairman for derogatory comments about Adeleke

The Osun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday accused the chairman of the Osun Election Petition Tribunal, Mr. Tertse Kume, of using foul language and derogatory words about the personality of Senator Ademola Adeleke, while delivering his verdict spoke about the election of state governor on Friday.

The party, at a press conference by its chairman, Dr. Akindele Adekunle in Osogbo, wondered why the tribunal’s chairman “could have demonstrated on his side of the stalemate with his choice of words that we considered unethical, disrespectful and inappropriate for a bailiff of such a position”.

“Even if the verdict had been billed to him, as we suspected by his petitioner associates, he should have disguised himself and exercised some restraint by scrapping the foul language clearly written for him in the local parlance of Buga texts to not to respect an elected governor. He shouldn’t have gone that low.

“This is all the more so when he is expected not to get too carried away or be in the slightest bit aware that his distorted position was merely a starting point in the legal battle in this context, as provided in our existing laws.

“For us as a party, we understand the desperation of those behind the Jankara ruling. We understand the trap they tried to set against the BVAS innovation in our electoral system. We understand that the desperation goes beyond the Osun election or Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke.

“Our party had always suspected Mr Tertse Kume’s behavior during the handling of the petition. Usually, the Benue State-born controversial arbitrator got lost and overwhelmed by his biased tendencies and acted as the lead attorney for the petitioner, arguing points for them like a hired mercenary, even when it was clear that the hired counsel for petitioner lost his way.

“This reckless abuse of privilege came to a head when Mr Tetse had to resign after hearing twice to have the APC’s lead attorney adjust and regain himself when he got lost in traffic for trying to portray white as black in their last written speech.

“The evil plot is ultimately directed against the upcoming general election, where in their usual fraudulent habit millions of voter cards have been cloned, registered with ghost names and made ready to be deployed especially for the presidential election, in which they could smell their total rejection far in advance .

“In this way and in their fraudulent anticipation, the use of the BVAS machine must be discredited and rendered impotent before they enter the electoral field with their fraudulent antics. Ladies and gentlemen, this is a battle they cannot win.

“The Osun experience demands eternal vigilance from Nigerians. Nigerians from far and wide should be vigilant as the voice robbers are not sitting still and not even hiding it. They are already bragging in the streets with their trade to evade the trial against the popular choice of Nigerians. We must all fight this, otherwise the nation is doomed in their hands,” said the PDP chairman.
