…Marwa dedicates award to Buhari, NDLEA employees

Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday presented the Leadership Person of the Year Award to National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Chairman Brig. Gene. Buba Marwa (retd.), at the 2022 Leadership Media Group Conference and Awards held at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.

This was when Marwa presented the award to the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (Retd) and the Anti-Narcotics Department staff.

The event, themed ‘Credible Elections and Economy in Transition’, was chaired by Osinbajo, with former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga as the keynote speaker.

Marwa noted that without Buhari’s support and that of NDLEA staff, who perform the tasks, he would not have achieved the successes recorded by the anti-narcotics agency.

On the award, the NDLEA boss said it would push him and others in the agency to do more and address the threat of drug abuse and peddling in the country.

Marwa said, “This award will infuriate us, encourage us to do even more in this fight. It is a fight in which we succeed and we will succeed.

“We must appreciate the President, Muhammadu Buhari, for giving us the necessary support and encouragement to carry out our duties effectively.

“We also need to appreciate the agency’s employees, who are the foot soldiers for doing the job effectively. I appreciate the men and women of the agency, because I wouldn’t be here without them.”
