Ondo State’s Insecurity Crisis: Why Amotekun Alone Can’t Save The Day – AAC, Kunle Wizeman Ajayi Blasts Gov’t Lack Of Vision
In a scathing critique, Kunle Wizeman Ajayi, the gubernatorial candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) and the IrapadaOndo Campaign, has lambasted the Ondo State government’s reliance on strengthening the Amotekun Security Network as a solution to the state’s insecurity crisis, describing it as a mere “band-aid” approach that fails to address the root causes of crime.
Ajayi argued that security is not just about arms or militarization, but about addressing the socio-economic factors that drive crime, such as poverty, hunger, and economic insecurity. He pointed out that even if one million more Amotekun operatives were employed and given AK-47 rifles, they cannot secure people who are not economically secured.
“The government’s approach is like trying to hold water in a leaking bucket,” Ajayi said. “You can’t just pour more water into the bucket without fixing the leak. Similarly, you can’t just throw more security operatives at the problem without addressing the underlying issues.”

The AAC candidate criticized the state government for its wasteful spending, lack of tangible projects, and failure to create job opportunities, despite receiving close to a trillion naira in one year. He also accused the government of greed, citing the example of deducting #20,000 from workers’ palliatives for three months.
“It’s like they think the people are fools,” Ajayi said. “How can you take money meant for the poor and vulnerable and use it to fund your own lavish lifestyle? It’s unacceptable.”
Ajayi called for a new approach to governance, emphasizing the need for industrialization, welfarism, and a better economy to ensure maximum security of lives and properties. He urged the people of Ondo State to rise up and demand a change in government, saying that only a revolutionary socialist government can bring about the desired change.
“We need a government that will prioritize the needs of the people, not just the interests of the ruling elite,” Ajayi said. “We need a government that will create jobs, stimulate the economy, and ensure that everyone has access to basic necessities like food, shelter, and healthcare.”
The AAC candidate’s statement comes amidst growing concerns about the insecurity crisis in Ondo State, which has been plagued by heinous crimes, including domestic and public violence, farming crimes, and kidnappings.
