The Ogun State Youth Concern Movement has strongly condemned the arrest of Asaolu Gafar, a prominent member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and staunch supporter of Hon. Ladi Adebutu.

Gafar was detained by the Ogun State Police Command over allegations of orchestrating violence against Hon. Muhammed Olaitan Efuwape, an APC candidate during the recent local government elections.

The group labeled the accusations as “baseless and politically motivated,” describing the arrest as part of a calculated attempt by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to suppress opposition voices and divert attention from governance failures.

In a statement signed by the movement, they demanded the immediate release of Gafar and called for an end to what they termed “unwarranted persecution and media trials” of PDP members. They further urged the state government to prioritize securing lives and property rather than engaging in political witch hunts.

The group also rallied PDP members to remain steadfast, expressing confidence in the leadership of Hon. Ladi Adebutu. They emphasized that the party’s vision for a secure and equitable Ogun State remains unwavering.

The statement concluded with a sharp rebuke of alleged intimidation tactics by the APC, calling for a halt to “illegal arrests” and asserting that such actions would not silence the masses.

The movement has amplified its call for justice with trending hashtags:
