The Ogun State Government has approved the reconstruction of 11 key roads spanning the three senatorial districts of the state. This decision was reached during the State Executive Council meeting held over the weekend, presided over by Governor Dapo Abiodun.

The approval comes days after Governor Abiodun pledged to extend the reconstruction of the Oke Erinja to Erinja Road to Ilobi during its commissioning last Tuesday. The governor emphasized the importance of the area to the state’s agricultural sector, stating:
“The Ilobi and Oke-Erinja areas are among our food baskets in the state, and today, we have prioritized the construction of their roads. I have heard many times that the Erinja and Ilobi people are like Siamese twins, and I will not separate them. So, let me assure you, we will complete that road to Ilobi.”
Sango-Ijoko-Akute Road to be Awarded Soon
In a move to enhance inter-state connectivity, Governor Abiodun also disclosed plans to award the contract for the reconstruction of the Sango-Ijoko-Akute Road within the next week. The 17km arterial road, which links Ogun West, Ogun Central, and Lagos, is critical for thousands of commuters traveling daily between Ifo Local Government and Lagos State.
He noted that while his administration had already worked on the Akute-Ajuwon, Alagbole-Ajuwon, Giwa-Oke-Aro, and Alagbole-Akute roads, the efforts would only be fully appreciated once the Sango-Ijoko-Akute Road is completed.
“We have not left behind our border communities. In the last two weeks, we have been in Ifo Local Government several times because of the number of people that migrate between there and Lagos every day.”
The latest approval underscores Governor Abiodun’s commitment to infrastructure development, reinforcing his administration’s efforts to enhance mobility, boost commerce, and improve the standard of living for Ogun State residents.
