Ogun PDP Inaugurates Campaign Council For Asiwaju Bolarinwa, Vows To Reclaim Remo Federal Constituency

The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially flagged off its campaign council for Asiwaju Bolarinwa Oluwole, the party’s candidate in the upcoming House of Representatives by-election for Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency.
The bye-election, scheduled for Saturday, August 16, is being held to fill the vacant seat left by the late Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, who passed away earlier this year after a brief illness. Onanuga, until her death, served as Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives.
The campaign inauguration took place on Monday at the Palace of the Akarigbo of Remo in Sagamu, drawing party leaders, stakeholders, and faithful from across the state.
In his keynote address, the PDP governorship candidate in the 2023 election, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, urged supporters to rally behind Bolarinwa and vote en masse to reclaim the constituency from what he described as “years of failed leadership under Governor Dapo Abiodun.”
“This man [Governor Abiodun] has been a shame and a curse on Remo. That’s why this constituency is ready to pay him back for his failures,” Adebutu declared.
“This is my third term in this struggle. Bola Oluwole is our candidate. I stand firmly by him. Let us win this for Remo. Let us show that bad governance carries consequences.”

Also speaking, Ogun PDP Chairman, Hon. Abayomi Tella, condemned what he described as massive rigging during the last general election and warned the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) against attempting to manipulate the upcoming poll.
“We won’t allow a repeat of the last election’s rigging,” Tella vowed.
“Go out and vote for the PDP. Don’t be intimidated. No one can suppress your will. But I urge everyone—avoid violence and protect your votes.”
In his remarks, Hon. Bolarinwa Oluwole appealed to his supporters to remain peaceful and resist any temptation to engage in electoral violence or ballot box snatching. He also issued a direct message to the state governor.
“Our governor should allow for a free and fair election. If he is truly a Christian, he should let the will of the people prevail,” Bolarinwa said.
“We won’t tolerate vote theft. We’re ready to defend our mandate.”
The event marked the official launch of the PDP’s grassroots mobilization effort ahead of what is expected to be a fiercely contested bye-election. Present at the inauguration were several high-ranking party leaders, youth leaders, women coordinators, and community mobilizers from all three local government areas in the constituency.
