Ogun PDP factional gov candidate denies negotiating ambition

A factional governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State, Segun Showunmi, has said that no amount of money or resources can buy him off the ballot in the forthcoming elections in the state.

Showunmi said contrary to the rumour that he was negotiating his governorship ambition, he was not ready to let go of the PDP ticket in the state.

The factional candidate said this on Wednesday, during his pre-campaign interaction with journalists in Abeokuta, the state capital

Showunmi described as baseless the rumour that he was being sponsored by certain interests to scuttle the party’s chances.

He insisted that the primary election conducted by the Oladipupo Adebutu camp could not stand and that the one that produced him as a candidate followed all the rules.

He said, “I feel irritated when people say this. Why do you think somebody has to pay me? Nobody has enough resources to buy me off. Friends, family and associates are passionate about Ogun State and my ambition. Between us, we will fund this campaign adequately.

“I’m not building my castles in the air; I am not playing, they know it, I know it. I have the ability within me, my family and my very close associates to fund this campaign lavishly. They should stop bragging about money.

“We are going to run a very intelligent campaign, a campaign that is issue-based, a campaign that puts the candidate before you to answer questions on why, on how and on when.”
