The Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has inaugurated a new chapel for members in Ogun East, with the swearing-in of its pioneer executives on Tuesday.

The inauguration, which held at the NUJ Secretariat Hall, Iwe-Iroyin, Abeokuta, marked the formal establishment of the Ogun East Independent Chapel under the State Council.

Speaking at the event, the State Chairman, Comrade Wale Olarenwaju, said the new chapel became necessary to give Ogun East journalists proper recognition within the union and strengthen their participation in council affairs.

He emphasized that the move was also aimed at sanitizing the practice of journalism in the region by discouraging quackery and curbing the spread of fake news.
