Ogun Ministry Steps Up Efforts To Enhance Teaching Skills

The Ogun State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has stepped up efforts to improve teaching skills and knowledge impartation to learners through quality assurance and new teaching methodology.

Special Adviser to the Governor in the Ministry, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, who declared open a 2-day training on Progressive Science Initiative (PSI) and Progressive Mathematics Initiative (PMI) open at Tech-Hub, Abeokuta, for Zonal Education Officers across the 20 Local Government Areas and selected senior officers in the education sector.

Arigbabu, in a statement signed by Mr. Samuel Ogungbesan, Press Officer, MOES&T, said the development would enable learners to have a better understanding of various subjects for improved performance and academic excellence, stating that “the PSI – PMI initiative involves the use of technology in the classrooms. You need to know how it is done, for you to know what to check when you also go round to do quality assurance”.

The Governor’s aide urged the participants to pay attention and ensure full participation, adding that the training should bring out the best in them as they contribute meaningfully to the government initiative.

In his presentation, the Project Manager, Ogun State Economic Transformation Project (OGSTEP), Mr. Fatai Osunsanya said the training was to acquaint participants with the concept, structure and benefits of the PSI and PMI, noting that it would prepare them for the development of education sector in the State.

In their responses, two of the participants, Mrs. Cecelia Olabisi and Mr. Ganiyu Agboola appreciated the government for exposing them to new trends in teaching and promised to utilise the skills acquired appropriately.
