Former Ijebu East Local Government Chairman, Wale Adedayo, has abandoned his brief romance with the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). This move comes after a highly publicized feud with Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, led to his exit from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In preparation for full participation in the forth coming Local Government elections in Ogun State, the Peoples Democratic Party on Tuesday, 3rd September commenced screening of aspirants for the positions of Councillors and Chairmen of the respective Local Government areas.

Hundreds of aspirants from the 236 Wards and 20 Local Governments of Ogun State obtained the partyā€™s Nomination forms and were screened for eligibility to contest in the Local Government Elections coming up in November.

Adedayo, who had attempted to find solace in the NNPP, has now opted for the PDP, seeking to contest for the Chairmanship position in the upcoming Local Government elections. His screening by the PDP on Tuesday, September 3rd, marks a significant milestone in his political journey.

Among the aspirants screened at the Party Secretariat in Abeokuta was the former Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government, Chief Wale Adedayo who is recontesting for the Chairmanship position in Ijebu East Local Governmentā€™.

According to a statement released by the Partyā€™s Publicity Secretary, Afolabi Orekoya, the party has scheduled Thursday, 5th and Saturday, 7th September as respective dates for the Councillorship and Chairmanship Primary Elections across the 236 Wards and 20 LGs.

Adedayo’s defection to the PDP raises eyebrows, given his recent association with the NNPP. His decision to join the PDP may be seen as a strategic move to leverage the party’s structure and support base in Ogun State, boosting his chances in the upcoming elections.

Orekoya encouraged party members to go out peacefully for the Primaries in their various wards to elect the Councillors of their Choice.
