The Deputy Minority Whip at the Ogun State House of Assembly representing Remo-North State Constituency, Hon. Awolaja Dickson Kolawole, has kicked off the implementation of constituency projects across the six major communities of the constituency.

The Communities namely Isara, Ode-Remo, Ipara, Ilara, Orile-Oko and Akaka, all situated in Remo North State Constituency, have started benefiting from the lawmaker’s initiative.

In a bid to address the challenges faced by local markets, men and women in Ode-Remo, Awolaja, on Monday laid the foundation of two blocks of 20 stalls at Ode Remo market.

According to the lawmaker, the move aims to provide a conducive space for traders to display their goods effectively, ultimately improving their businesses and livelihoods.

He also listed the locations for the boreholes as Ipara (2), Ilara (2), Akaka (1), Pakiama in Ode-Remo (1), Isara (1) and Orile-Oko (1).

The contractor is expected to complete the boreholes within two or three weeks.

Speaking to newsmen, during the foundation laying, Awolaja said “These projects are being put in place based on the demand of the people. We made consultations and asked them what they needed and that is what we are providing”.

“We are constructing a modern and well equipped abattoir in Isara and we are also drilling eight boreholes in different locations within the State Constituency. We have two boreholes in Ipara, we have two in Ilara, we have one in Akaka, one in Orile-Oko, and we have one in Pakiama, ward 10 in Ode-Remo and the last one is in Jowoje, a village in Isara. The contractor is expected to complete the boreholes within two or three weeks.

At the foundation laying, the Alaye of Ode-Remo, Oba Amidu Osho, expressed gratitude to Awolaja for ending the suffering of the market women in the community.

He noted that the community had long been in need of proper market infrastructure, while appreciating the lawmaker’s efforts in addressing this issue.

In Oba Osho’s words “Previously, people using this market rented canopies on market days, which often failed to protect them from the rain. Imagine someone who is selling yam flour and rain falls on it, that will amount to a very huge loss.

“Today we see a project being put in place by Hon. Awolaja. This is not a small project, it’s a laudable project. Market women and men can now display their goods with ease”.

Also at the drilling point of the borehole at Ipara, the Onipara of Ipara, Oba Taiwo Taiwo, disclosed that members of the community travel miles to get portable water, adding that the borehole project facilitated by Hon. Awolaja will end that experience.

“The distance where there is water to this community is far, we are grateful for this benefit we are enjoying from Honourable Awolaja”.

“We have been expecting something like this; good roads, portable water, and for the community, it will be a thing of joy seeing this happening. We are thanking the government for this. Hon. Awolaja is a wonderful person”.

Awolaja mentioned the commencement of other projects in other communities will go on simultaneously, noting in particular the foundation laying of the modern abattoir will also take place early in the new week after the completion of the bush clearing at site of the project that is on-going.
