Ogun Guber: What We Told OGD’s Camp Before We Back Out To Support Abiodun’s Second Terms Bid —Sojobi Obinna
In light of the controversy surrounding the Otunba Gbenga Daniel political family, who also is the Ogun East Senate-elect, and the action steps taken to collide with and support the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship candidate, Hon. Adebutu Oladipupo, against the second term reelection bid of Prince Dapo Abiodun to return as the State Governor.
Sojobi Olayinka Obinna has provided insights into his deliberations with his people before they back out to support Abiodun. Mentioning Adesina Ganiu (Gaolat), Oba Ademola Rasaq, Ayeoola Jide, Stella and many others who supported him in canvassing and backing him to pull out of OGD camp to support Abiodun.
Obinna made the revelation following Prince Dapo Abiodun landslide re-election in Saturday’s governorship elections, in which he received 276,395 votes to defeat runner-up Adebutu Oladipupo of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who received 262,383 votes.
In the March 18th gubernatorial election, the APC’s Dapo Abiodun defeated the PDP’s Adebutu Oladipupo in Ogun and PDA was declared Governor-elect.
Abiodun won the state from all odds despite OGD refused to support PDA out of hatred which will likely be am injury to the development of our dear state.
Though the OGD collaboration with Lado disgruntled the efforts of Abiodun from winning none of the Ogun East Senatorial District at the just concluded election.
Adebutu visited OGD’s political family at Nandas Hotel Conference hall on invitation of Daniel’s frontier in two days to election with the aim of buying the team to his side. Me singlehandedly opposing such betrayal moves later fueled the rejection of many that are today called DA Gateway Progressive Forum, Obinna said.
Sojobi and Oba Ademola reveals to Eaglesforesight that; It was there that we got to knew that Alhaji Jamiu Olodo, Mamak, Steve Oliyide and few others have already assured Lado of our supports without our consents until in the meeting.

However, in a trending press release, OGD has cleverly distanced himself from such move, while his close aides were at the same time championing the course to support Hon. Adebutu Oladipupo.
According to him, in his claims, OGD felt the reality is that; people will make their choices and they have every constitutional right to belong to any association or group which he doesn’t have any power to stop them against their political wishes.
“At the end of the day, the decision of who we are to vote for rested with the people who believes in my stand. In all fairness, I told our people, ‘You must not do anything that will threaten the unity of this state, let’s support Dapo Abiodun for him to complete his term and also to give him the opportunity to finish the good work he has started” Gaolat said.
“‘We should be pushing in a direction where Idagbasoke Ipinle Ogun will be out talk of the town, and an inclusiveness.’
Arguing that the people of Ogun State could not be led blindly, Obinna stated that they were “quiet sophisticated”, adding that “that is behind us now”.
Sojobi said before good people of Ogun there’s a governor-elect who has emerged, adding that “we must support him [and] work with him for the development of our dear state”.
He reiterated that the agitation of the OGD political family did not place the individual careers of the people as a major consideration.
“We thought we were going to fight for what is right, what is just for this state and for our party APC. We said, ‘We prefer to see a leader that will obey and respect the decision of the majority of their members” he said.
“None of us ever thought, ‘We’re playing a survival game.’ No. We were just basically saying, ‘Abiodun will do what is right. Do what is just. Have inclusivity as something that is central in our party (APC) and in our dear state and don’t do anything that can threaten the unity of this country.’ There’s no regret for supporting PDA, my conclusion is that Dapo Abiodun will not disappoint the good people of Ogun State who in their sincerity gave him full supports.”
